Set up the court
Serve from a comfortable shortened position into the large diagonal service-box target while the helper stands safely behind the swing area.

Step by step
Your 15-minute practice
0–3 min
Build the starting shape
- Set feet, relaxed grip and balanced trophy position without a ball.
- Finish each shadow motion facing the target.
8 tosses · 4 min
Toss and catch
- Make eight gentle tosses into the same contact window.
- Catch with the hitting arm extended.
7–11 min
Serve from short distance
- Use a smooth action towards the large target.
- Reset feet and grip after every attempt.
16 serves · 4 min
Score sixteen serves
- Count target serves with a balanced finish.
- Aim for eight successes.
Remember
Three player cues
- Start balanced and relaxed.
- Toss into one comfortable window.
- Swing smoothly towards the target.
Avoid these
Common mistakes
- Throwing the toss far behind the head
- Gripping too tightly
- Trying to add power before the serve reaches the box
Keep the same purpose
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Move closer to the net and use a foam or red ball with the full service box as target.
Make it harder
Move back gradually and alternate deuce and ad service targets.
Keep it safe
Only one server swings in the marked area; the helper stays behind the racket path and balls are collected after each set.
