Score ten patterns
- Count only a deep approach plus deep swing volley.
- Aim for six complete patterns.
Remember
Three player cues
- Approach deep first.
- Read the high reply early.
- Take it in the air and land balanced.
Avoid these
Common mistakes
- Moving forward before the approach creates pressure
- Standing still while reading the high reply
- Trying to finish too close to the sideline
Keep the same purpose
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Begin with a hand-fed high ball after every successful approach.
Make it harder
Let the partner vary the reply height so the player must choose swing volley or groundstroke.
Keep it safe
Agree on the high return before each sequence and clear balls from the forward landing zone.
