Step by step
Your 20-minute practice
0–4 min
Choose your pattern
- Play four cooperative points to test your intended first two shots.
- Adjust the target if the pattern is unrealistic.
4–10 min
Play the first set
- Play four scored points with one player serving.
- Name your pattern quietly before each point.
10–16 min
Change server
- Play four more points with the other player serving.
- Use the same between-point reset after wins and errors.
16–20 min
Finish under pressure
- Play four final points with every point starting at 30–30.
- Count how often you began with your chosen pattern.
Remember
Three player cues
- Commit before the point starts.
- Recover after the opening shot.
- Reset your body language quickly.
Avoid these
Common mistakes
- Changing the tactical intention after one error
- Watching the opening shot instead of recovering
- Rushing the next point without a reset
Keep the same purpose
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Begin each point with a cooperative feed and play first to five points without serving.
Make it harder
Play a tie-break and require the chosen pattern on every neutral ball before changing direction.
Keep it safe
Keep spare balls against the back fence and stop immediately if a loose ball enters either player’s movement path.
